“She had just the right combination of compassion, empathy and a pleasant demeanor when we selected her as a Student of Star and we are proud to have her become our first successful Star Home Health Aide from this new license”, stated Lauren Scalcione, RN Administrator of the Melville NY Branch of Star Multi Care. “Once she was interviewed, and hearing about her background and the stories involving the family members she graciously took care of, we just knew she was going to be successful”, said Lauren. Ms. Scalcione also stated, “It’s a wonderful feeling to be a part of the development of a dedicated individual willing to work in this unique field. Becoming a Home Health Aide can be very rewarding and now presents the staircase to other professions and areas within the medical field that might be of interest to our employees. I am beyond proud to see how well Amerakal did in her training, and we welcome her as a part of our Star Family and are extremely proud to allow her the opportunity to care for our clients.”

The new license issued by the New York State Department of Health allows Star Multi Care to not only certify Home Health Aides, but they can now provide an upgraded Certificate for Personal Care Aides allowing them to become a Home Health Aide (HHA), transition Certified Nursing Assistants to a Certified HHA, as well as provide Competency testing for individuals such as nursing students who might want the flexibility to work hands-on with patients in the home while completing their nursing degrees. This certification will open many doors to an industry with a major recruitment issue. Star Multi Care hopes to be able to reach a larger pool of applicants and work toward getting the right individuals into the caregiving industry allowing clients the opportunity to receive care in the comfort of their own home.
